Wintons Children

For many years I have been recording the memories of the so-called Winton children. They told me what life was like in Czechoslovakia before the war, described the complicated journey to England and how they got used to their new home.

During the lecture I will describe the fates of the individual children I filmed in the Czech Republic, England and Israel. I visited his hometown of Brno with Hugo Marom and he also took me to places in Israel that are important to his life story. Ben Abeles showed me in London where he spent the first weeks of the war and described what helped him cope with the separation from his family. Lady Milena Grenfell-Baines told how her loved ones managed to get to England. Zuzana Marešová recalled what it was like to arrive in England and return to post-war Prague.
